The DigiTech DirtyRobot's very name suggests it is something radical. It is a synthesizer emulation pedal that adds wild, synth-like textures to your guitar sound, without the need for a special pickup or interface. You get two unique voices that you can select with the toggle switch; V1 gives you a warm sound with envelope sweeps for vintage analogue synthesizer tones, and V2 is a vocal formant effect that produces incredible vocoder and talkbox-style sounds.

A 360-degree Drift knob morphs between Square, Octave, and Sub soundscapes, and a modulation engine gives you superb chorus and vibrato effects, controlled by the momentary footswitch(which means the effect is only engaged as long as the switch is pressed down - so you can use it as a virtual mod wheel). Dual ins and outs mean you run the Dirty Robot in stereo, adding even more sonic layers to a stereo amp setup.
