The solid-body electric bass guitar was invented by Leo Fender with the introduction of the Precision Bass in 1951. Following the success of the P-bass, Fender introduced the Jazz bass in 1960. Featuring a narrower neck, offset body, and two single-coil pickups, the Jazz Bass has stood the test of time to become one of the most used and recorded guitars in music history, chosen by world-renowned bassists such as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Victor Bailey, Sting, Flea, and Geddy Lee, bassist and vocalist of Rush.
Designed from the ground up to give you the ideal bass for stage or studio use, the American Professional Jazz Bass boasts a host of player-friendly features. The familiar modern C-shaped neck profile offers easy handling, while the combination of power and vintage bass frequencies produced by a pair of Tim Shaw-designed J-style V-Mod single-coil pickups delivers some of history’s most legendary bass tones. Subtle yet effective improvements include a vintage HiMass bridge, solid construction that transfers more string energy to the body for more sustain and articulation, and a wave-shaped tuner design that ensures optimal break angle and tension on the post. This 5-string model features an extended lower B string.
