To combine the sensitivity and strength of carbon fiber with the traditional beauty of wood, RainSong developed SFT: Soundboard Fusion Technology. After careful testing, we successfully combined a thin spruce soundboard and unidirectional, pre-preg carbon fiber in a single molding step. The SFT soundboard is a composite substrate that resonates as a single unit, just like a natural wood soundboard. The physical properties of carbon fiber far exceed those of laminate. However, because it is made of carbon fiber, the SFT soundboard is impervious to temperature and humidity.

The bell-like clarity, balance, clarity between individual notes, and wide dynamic range make the OM one of our most expressive guitars. The OM also projects powerfully thanks to Projection Tuned Layering™. It won’t shake the windows like a Jumbo or Dreadnought, but the OM has power and punch for a small-bodied guitar.

The standard NS neck joins the body at the 12th fret instead of the 14th. This allows the bridge to be positioned toward the center of the lower body, improving the vibration from the strings to the soundboard and enhancing bass response. The NS also has a shorter scale (24.875”), making the neck more comfortable to hold and play.
