An innovator and major influence on the sound of guitar effects, Kevin Shields awakened and brought to life a whole new world of fuzz that no one had ever heard before, redefining the sound of 80s and 90s alt rock. Kevin’s tool of choice for creating this chaos was an early Fender® Blender effects pedal, which was highly regarded for its frequency response and compelling fuzz. Now, after more than four years of collaborative development, Fender and Shields have revived the legendary pedal and added a game-changing feature set to create the all-new Fender Shields Blender.

Essentially, by meticulously studying the circuitry of the Shields pedal, the team was able to create a Fender Shields Blender fuzz that reflects the tone of the classic 1970s Fender Blender. It builds on this vintage circuitry, while adding completely new controls and blending methods, all aimed at supporting high-performance playing using four easily accessible footswitches. Two footswitch-controlled fuzz channels each have dedicated level controls for blending fuzz into a clean signal or blending fuzz into a powerful suboctave fuzz, while additional footswitches enable unprecedented sputtering and ducking effects, all controlled by soft and hard footswitches while you’re rocking out.
